Tennis Celebrities in Bali

As you know Julia Roberts is making a new movie in Bali. There is another big event in Bali. The WTA has announced the field for the Bali ‘International Series’ Championships. The CommonwealthBank Tournament of Champions 2009 will be held on November 4-8 '2009 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.

Bali always ready to welcome celebrity. The tournament this year will feature top Tour players, who will compete $600,000 in prize money and an opportunity to earn a $1 million bonus.

This sport event was originally held in Surabaya on the year of 1994, at that time named Wismilak Open, then changed into Wismilak International the following year. On 2001 the tournament moved to Bali. Since Commonwealth Bank then became the main sponsor of the event, it is called Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic. After two years now the title changes to Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions

Among the winners of 2009 International Tournaments, 10 highest ranked players who are not participating in the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha this week are qualified for Bali Commonwealthbank Tournament of Champions.



They will be joined by 2 wild cards to be nominated by the tournament owner or WTA. The 12 participants will be divided into four groups of three players to compete in round-robin singles format.
The winners of the groups will play in single elimination semi-finals for the places in the final.
You will see Tennis celebrities perform their skills in Bali such as: Marion Bartoli, Samantha Stosur, Yanina Wickmayer, Anabel Medina Garrigues, Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, Shahar Peer, Melinda Czink, Agnes Szavay, Aravane Rezai, Magdalena Rybarikova, Sabine Lisicki (wildcard), Kimiko Date Krumm (wildcard), and [Vera Dushevina (alternate).
